bugsnstuff was set up by Guy Tansley to give both children and adults the opportunity to have close contact with, and learn more about, the unusual creatures of the insect, amphibian and reptile world.
Based in Gateshead, the bugsnstuff workshops cover Tyne and Wear, Co. Durham, Northumberland and Wearside (other areas by arrangement). Click here for a map of the areas covered. Areas outside of this map will incur travelling costs - email for details.
Guy has been keeping and breeding exotic insects for over 25 years and brings his enthusiasm and knowledge of the subject to his workshops.
His travels include the rain forests of Borneo, South America, and West Africa to study the habits and habitats of insects and spiders. Having visited these rain forests he can tell you first hand about the sights and sounds of these magnificent places and the amazing creatures that live there.
Creator of the successful and much-referenced website dedicated to tarantulas, www.giantspiders.com, he aims to dispel the many myths surrounding these fascinating arachnids. More recently, Guy has wrangled insects for the film world, bringing megabugs to the big screen and has also worked with CBBC on their Live 'n' Deadly Road Show.
Guy has connections with the ZSL (London Zoo), Kirkley Hall Zoological Gardens, The Great North Museum (Hancock) and has been an active member of the British Tarantula Society for over 25 years.
Guy Tansley has CRB clearance and is appropriately insured (copies available on request).
